Netflix has released first-look photos for the first half of the upcoming fifth and final installment of Money Heist, which will be available for streaming on September 3. The photos, which you can check out below, provides us a glimpse at the much more intense season, featuring the gang going up against an unidentified enemy, while also teasing their final battle against the government.
In Money Heist Season 5, the gang has been shut in the Bank of Spain for over 100 hours. They have managed to rescue Lisbon, but their darkest moment is upon them after losing one of their own. The Professor has been captured by Sierra and, for the first time, doesn’t have an escape plan. Just when it seems like nothing else could go wrong, an enemy comes on the scene that is much more powerful than any they’ve faced: the army. The end of the greatest heist in history is approaching, and what began as a robbery will turn into a war.

In a recent interview with EW, creator and showrunner Alex Pina confirmed that the weight of Nairobi’s surprising death last season will be felt more by the gang in the upcoming episodes as they grapple with the heartbreaking loss by waging full-on war against the authorities and the system.
“Nairobi represented the heart of the gang in a way, and in this last season [she] would have had a hard time fitting in because this is a season of direct confrontation. But her legacy is going to inspire the other characters,” Pina said.
