Aida Osman, KaMillion, and Jonica Booth have all been cast in Issa Rae’s HBO Max comedy Rap Sh*t (working title).

Confirmed today by WarnerMedia, the three actors are also joining Sadé Clacken Joseph, who was announced to be the director for the pilot episode of the hour-hour comedy. According to the logline of the series, Rap Sh*t follows two estranged high school friends from Miami, Shawna and Mia, who reunite to form a rap group.
Osman, who many might know as the host of the Crooked Media Podcast “Keep It,” will play Shawna, an aspiring rapper that hasn’t seen success and continues to work her day job at a touristy hotel. Osman is also credited as an Executive Story Editor for the series.
KaMillion, a real-life artist who has appeared on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Miami, will play Mia, a makeup artist and estranged friend of Shawna’s. Mia is a single mother to a four-year-old daughter and works three jobs. Finally, Jonica Booth (Bad Girls Club) will play Chastity, a “sex work manager” that refers to herself as the “Duke of Miami.”

Rap Sh*t will be executive produced by Issa Rae (HBO’s Insecure, A Black Lady Sketch Show) and Montrel McKay (A Black Lady Sketch Show, Road Trippp) for HOORAE, as well as Jonathan Berry (Insecure) and Dave Becky (Master of None, Russian Dolls) for 3 Arts Entertainment, along with showrunner Syreeta Singleton (Insecure, Central Park). Rae will write the pilot, and hip hop duo Yung Miami and JT of City Girls will also serve as co-executive producers, along with Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “P” Thomas for Quality Control Films and Sara Rastogi for HOORAE. Rae’s audio content company Raedio will handle music supervision for the series.
