Wonder Woman 1984: Patty Jenkins Says Post-Credits Scene Was Kept From Press Screeners

After conducting a number of virtual press screenings for a select group of press, including ComingSoon.net, director Patty Jenkins has confirmed that Warner Bros. Pictures’ long-delayed DC sequel Wonder Woman 1984 will definitely have a post-credits scene which was excluded from the press screeners.

Speaking with Cinema Blend, Jenkins explained that they decided to keep the post-credits scene a secret from the press in order to prevent any potential spoiler of the scene. She also confirmed that the scene will definitely be available on both theatrical and HBO Max versions.

“Yes,” Jenkins teased. “Let that be something to save for the audience. Just because, God forbid, somebody writes about it, you’re like, ‘Well, then what fun was it? Now we should have just attached it to the end of the movie!”

The HBO Max experience, which will be available on supported devices including Apple TV 4K, Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, Amazon Fire TV Cube and 4K Fire TV Edition smart TVs, Chromecast Ultra, AT&T TV and supported Android TV devices, will be the first film to stream in 4K Ultra HD, HDR 10, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on the platform. These capabilities will extend to other films and TV series throughout 2021.

Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big-screen adventure finds her facing two all-new foes: Max Lord and The Cheetah. With director Patty Jenkins back at the helm and Gal Gadot returning in the title role, Wonder Woman 1984 is Warner Bros. Pictures’ follow up to the DC Super Hero’s first outing, 2017’s record-breaking Wonder Woman.

The film also stars Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as The Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope, and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta. Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Patty Jenkins, Gal Gadot, and Stephen Jones are producing the film. Rebecca Steel Roven Oakley, Richard Suckle, Marianne Jenkins, Geoff Johns, Walter Hamada, Chantal Nong Vo, and Wesley Coller are the executive producers. Patty Jenkins directed from a screenplay she wrote with Geoff Johns & David Callaham, story by Jenkins & Johns, based on characters from DC.

The sequel was originally intended to be released in 2019 but was then delayed to June 5, 2020. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, the film was then pushed back to two times to August and October before finally landing on its current December 25, 2020, release.
