According to Deadline, GLOW alum Sunita Mani has been tapped to play a supporting role in HBO’s forthcoming limited series adaptation of Scenes From a Marriage, based on Ingmar Bergman’s classic Swedish series of the same name. Mani will be joining previously announced leads Golden Globe winner Oscar Isaac and Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain, who recently replaced Michelle Williams due to scheduling conflicts.
Mani gained recognition for her role as Arthie in Netflix’s hit series GLOW which was supposed to return for its fourth and final season but was surprisingly cancelled by the streamer last month. She was also most recently seen in films such as Bleecker Street’s sci-fi comedy Save Yourselves! and Amazon Prime’s Welcome to the Blumhouse film Evil Eye.

HBO’s Scenes From a Marriage is an English-language adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s classic Swedish series and is expected to re-examine the original show’s depiction of love, hatred, desire, monogamy, marriage, and divorce through the lens of a contemporary American couple.
The limited series will be written and directed by The Affair co-creator Hagai Levi. On top of starring, both Isaac and Chastain are also executive producing along with Levi, Lars Blomgren, Daniel Bergman, Blair Breard, and Media Res’ Michael Ellenberg. Media Res and Endeavor Content will produce.
The original six-episode series aired in 1973 on Swedish television where it starred Liv Ullmann and Erland Josephson. Based on Bergman’s own experiences, the series told the story of a disintegration of a marriage between Marianne and Johan.
