Created by, executive produced and starring the titular comedian, The Eric Andre Show is a parody of low-budget public-access talk shows, with Andre coming in and destroying the entire talk-show set in every episode’s opening before transitioning into monologues delving into surreal and dark comedy, interviews with celebrity guests, short sketches and candid camera pranks. Andre is joined on set by co-host and fellow comedian Hannibal Buress, who frequently derides the former and acts as the relatively straight persona to Andre’s outrageous.
The series first premiered in 2012 on Adult Swim to fairly positive reviews from critics and acclaim from audiences and has drawn in better ratings for the network with each subsequent season. A fifth season of the series was confirmed by Adult Swim late last year, with Andre revealing in subsequent interviews that he had shaved his head, gained 20 pounds and sat in many tanning beds to develop an “Uncanny Valley” version of himself and confirming that filming had been completed just before the global pandemic shut down most productions throughout Hollywood.
