Eric Kripke Says Fans Are Not Ready for Stormfront in The Boys Season 2

Entertainment Weekly and The Boys co-creator Eric Kripke have shared a first look at the new Season 2 character Stormfront, played by Aya Cash (You’re the Worst), with the showrunner promising fans they are not ready for the new addition to the Seven.

Antony Starr, who plays Homelander in the series, told EW: “She’s the grenade that gets thrown into Homelander’s world and the world of the Seven. She really causes me so many problems.”

Cash added that Stormfront will come with her own agenda. “I think Stormfront is like a nuclear bomb that goes off in the Seven. Maybe nuclear bomb isn’t the right word. We’re in Chernobyl. There you go. It’s a Chernobyl thing.”

“I think she’s here to blow up Vought,” Cash continued. “She’s here to try to get Vought back to the original idea behind creating superheroes… And she can be quite the feminist. There’s a lot of, I wouldn’t say misdirect, but she also is a very empowered woman.”

Starr says Stormfront isn’t into the “celebrity fanfare” like the rest of the Seven are, and is more “young and new and fresh.” Stormfront is also “willing to challenge” Homelander, who is “used to everyone being scared of him,” which will “challenge who Homelander is.”

Kripke and The Boys cast, including Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, and more, will attend PaleyFest for the show’s panel on March 15. Tickets for the event can be purchased here!

The Boys is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about the supergroup known as “The Seven.” The show retains most of the comics (available for purchase here) boundary-pushing violence and sexuality while exploring the dark side of superhero celebrity and fame.

The series stars Karl Urban (Star Trek, Judge Dredd) as Billy Butcher, the ringleader of the vigilantes who risk it all to go against a group of all-powerful characters, with Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Jennifer Esposito as CIA agent Susan L. Rayner, and Karen Fukuhara as the Female. Elisabeth Shue co-stars in the series alongside Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, and Nathan Mitchell.

The series was created by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, who are responsible for another subversive comic book-inspired series, AMC’s Preacher, and Supernatural creator Eric Kripke.
