Netflix Anthology Series Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings Cast Revealed

The upcoming Netflix show Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings has added a whopping 19 actors to its cast. Deadline reports that among those 19 are Oscar winners Melissa Leo and Ray McKinnon, as well as Emmy winners Jessica Collins, Camryn Manheim, Timothy Busfield, and Patricia Wettig. They’ll join Ginnifer Goodwin whose casting was announced back in November.

Colin O’Donoghue (Once Upon a Time) has been cast in the title role of the episode JJ Sneed along with Willa Fitzgerald (Scream: The Series), David Denman (13 Hours) and Vanessa Rubio (How to be Single). The episode is set in the 1880s, centering on a feisty young woman trapped in a mundane existence who dreams of more, until a seductive outlaw pulls her into the adventure of a lifetime.

Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings is inspired by the veteran singer-songwriter’s most iconic songs. Each episode will feature a different standalone story with a whole different cast. Parton is expected to appear in some of the stories and will begin each of the episode with an introduction by talking or singing about the meaning behind each song.
