The forthcoming episode of Lethally Blonde, titled “Hollywood Thriller,” will air on ID on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 10 p.m. ET. It will delve into the death of actress and model Anneka Di Lorenzo, which remains a mystery for over a decade after she was found dead.
On January 4, 2011, Anneka Vasta, popularly known as Anneka Di Lorenzo, was found washed up by the beach at Camp Pendleton, where a group of joggers found a body. Although they initially assumed that the body belonged to a teenager, authorities investigated and found out that it was 58-year-old Anneka Di Lorenzo, who had once been the 1975 Penthouse Pet of the Year, according to People Magazine.
Anneka Di Lorenzo was also featured in Calagula, a film co-produced by Bob Guccione, whom she later married. Later, she sued Guccione for sexual harassment and won the case against him. Afterward, the actress started working as a nursing assistant in Los Angeles while raising a daughter, as per NBC San Diego. She reportedly struggled with mental health issues, including paranoia.
The victim’s vehicle, a 2001 Mazda 626 Sedan, was discovered parked atop a 60-foot-high cliff near the beach. However, authorities deemed it unlikely that she fell from that precipice. As per Sky News, this was due to the waves not reaching that height, making it improbable for her to have landed in the water had she jumped. Among the items recovered inside her car were her cell phone and purse, along with other evidence.
What did Anneka Di Lorenzo’s autopsy reveal?
An autopsy disclosed that Anneka Di Lorenzo had sustained fractures to her back and neck when discovered. She had drowned, yet the circumstances surrounding her death—whether it was a suicide or a homicide—remained inconclusive. There were stab wounds on the victim’s chest and slashes on her wrist. However, none were deep enough to have resulted in her death. No drugs or intoxicants were detected in the body, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
Inside her car, authorities discovered a plastic bag that was used to wrap a sports bra and a leopard-print blouse. Both the garments had Anneka Di Lorenzo’s blood on them. A steak knife, also covered in her blood, was found on the floorboard of the car. However, none of the signs of stress in the car pointed towards a possible death inside the vehicle. Bottles of lithium and Xanax were found inside. However, their consumption was unlikely as the autopsy did not reveal any traces of it.
The former model’s family has reportedly suggested that Anneka Di Lorenzo could not have killed herself. She did express suicidal tendencies and mental health problems in the past. However, the fact that her neck and back had been broken before she died created significant suspicions. On January 2, two days before she was found dead, the victim reportedly rented a room in a motel on Raintree Drive. However, there is no evidence suggesting that she stayed there, raising suspicions about her activity that night.
