The Boston Marathon Bombings were carried out by Chechen Kyrgyzstani-American brothers, Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev. After the bombings, the Tsarnaevs killed an MIT policeman and engaged in kidnapping. Officials released the culprits’ images a few days after the tragedy, and the police soon confronted the brothers.
According to CNN, Dzhokhar is currently in USP Florence ADMAX, a supermax security prison in Florence, Colorado.
How were Boston Marathon bombing suspects caught?
A few days after the Boston Marathon bombings, the perpetrators encountered cops in a shootout, which led to the death of the older brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev. The younger brother, Dzhokhar, managed to escape. However, the cops were quick to locate his hiding place. They later shot and arrested him.
Dzhokhar, who is currently 30, was sentenced to death on June 24, 2015. On July 31, 2020, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit reversed his sentence. However, the Supreme Court reinstated his death penalty on March 4, 2022.
