John Wayne Gacy, a Midwestern contractor and party clown, was responsible for assaulting and murdering over 30 young men and underaged boys in the 1970s. Authorities recovered many of the victims’ corpses from Gacy’s home, either buried in a crawl space or hidden within the property’s walls.
He slipped a rope around his victims’ necks and slowly tightened it with a stick, tricking and strangling them. His heinous crimes came to light when one of these victims’ families filed a missing report. After conducting an investigation, the authorities brought the serial killer to trial, following which the court sentenced him to death for each murder they committed.
Despite being notorious for gruesome and horrific killings, Gacy functioned as a member of the community, according to reports. People may find it surprising that even though Gacy had frequent sexual encounters with men, he managed to marry not once but twice. Moreover, he even fathered two children.
Who are John Wayne Gacy’s chidren and where are they now?
Gacy and Marlynn Myers married just nine months after they first met in 1964. Two years later, Gacy and Myers welcomed their first child, a son, Michael. Their daughter, Christine, was born just over a year later in March 1967.
When Christine was only a year old, authorities imprisoned his father for sodomy after two young boys accused him of sexual assault. Marlynn filed for divorce from John Wayne Gacy following his sentencing for sodomy and sexual assault allegations. In 1969, Marlynn divorced him and obtained full custody of her children after his sentencing in 1968.
In 1972, Gacy wed his second wife, Carole Hoff, and they remained together until 1976. Hoff had previously been divorced, and she had two young daughters. Two years into their marriage, Gacy and Hoff experienced strain as Gacy frequently disappeared most of the night and devoted considerable time in the garage. She divorced him on March 2, 1976, citing that he was seeing other women as the grounds for their divorce.
After John Wayne Gacy‘s conviction for killing 33 people in 1978, most of his family chose to step away from him. The children have actively maintained a low profile, and not much information is available about them. If they changed their names and wanted to sever the connection to their father’s murderous legacy, it’s certainly understandable.
According to Gacy’s sister, Karen, her brother’s children have rebuffed her attempts to connect with them. While speaking in an interview on Oprah, Karen said, “I tried sending gifts to the children. Everything was returned. I often wonder about them, but if [their mother] wants a private life. I think she’s owed that. Think the children are owed that.”
As it is, the whereabouts of John Wayne Gacy’s children are currently unknown due to scarce information on them.
