Asian entertainment on Netflix is grabbing eyeballs across the globe. From K-dramas to Thai dramas, the streaming giant has a vast catalog of content for its viewers. Recently, Thai dramas have transformed their appeal to suit a worldwide audience. From fun romantic comedies to spine-chilling thrillers, Netflix has a wide range of Thai dramas for fans. Let’s look at the series that are perfect for a binge-watching session.
The Stranded
There is never a wrong time to watch a thriller that will compel viewers not to move from their seats until the end. Netflix’s The Stranded delivers precisely that. Starring Papangkorn Lerkchaleampote, Chutawut Phatrakampol, and Oabnithi Wiwattanawarang, it unveils the story of a group of elite school students trapped on an island. As the students hold on to hope to make it out, shocking incidents follow them everywhere, testing their faith.
The Underclass
Netflix’s top Thai drama, The Underclass, is the story of a high-school student entangled in shady activities after being expelled from an exclusive program. The coming-of-age tale explores the different status quo inside a class where students navigate challenges while pursuing their dreams. The Underclass delivers a gripping plot with 13 episodes where viewers can relate to students’ struggles and the identity crisis many go through in adolescence.
Girl From Nowhere
Netflix’s Girl From Nowhere is a cathartic watch for those who enjoy stories about vengeance. The show follows Nanno ( Chicha Amatayakul), who has moved to a new school and is pursuing something secretive. She makes it her mission to expose the students who pretend to be something they are not. Nanno’s exposé missions are edgy and often humiliating, providing the necessary comic relief that a dark humor fan will enjoy. The popularity of season 1 of Girl From Nowhere also led to season 2, which is now available to stream.
Ghost Lab
Thai entertainment has aced the formula of making horror films and dramas. Ghost Lab lives up to the legacy of the Thai horror genre with a new twist to storytelling. It narrates the tale of two doctors, Gla and Wee, who witness a haunting incident in their hospital. The duo then becomes obsessed with discovering the truth behind the ghosts. Their fixation and risky pursuit of the paranormal takes them down a rabbit hole that may cost them their friendship and even their loved ones.
Ready, Set, Love
Netflix’s 2024 Thai offering includes Ready, Set, Love, where men are treasured as rare species, and women fight (quite literally) to win the devotion of the other gender. The dystopian rom-com introduces a character, Day, portrayed by Belle Kemisara, who unintentionally wins a place in a competition to win a man’s heart. Surprisingly, Day meets the most popular guy at the event, Son (Blue Pongtiwat Tangwancharoen). Their budding love faces a challenge when they unearth a conspiracy secretly operating beneath the surface.
Netflix’s 2024 schedule has more Thai content, which will be released soon. This includes The Believers and Doctor Climax. In The Believers, viewers will witness a world where religious beliefs are up for sale. Directed by Wattana Pong Wongwan, the show will premiere on March 27. Doctor Climax is a comedy-drama where a skin doctor is moonlighting as a sex columnist. Directed by Ekachai Uekrongtham, Doctor Climax will drop on Netflix in May.
