I mildly amused and now comes Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines, which seems to have either abandoned the original Wrong Turn group of hillbilly, inbred, cannibal mountain men or is featuring their relatives. I’m not exactly sure, but here’s the plot.
The cutting-edge terror continues when a small mining town hosts the legendary Mountain Man Festival on Halloween, where crowds of costumed partygoers gather for a wild night of music and mischief. But a killer celebration soon gives way to a blood-soaked feeding frenzy when an inbred family of hillbilly cannibals trick and treat themselves to a group of visiting college students who are just dying for a good time…
Like the last three installments in the franchise, Wrong Turn 5 is going straight to DVD and Blu-ray and will be released on October 23 and I have just been sent an exclusive look at a clip from the film, which gets a bit gnarly and then a bit funny as a female sheriff attempts to stuff her boyfriend’s guts back inside his body before knee-capping an oncoming creeper.
These films are beginning to look cheaper and cheaper with each installment, but frankly, the low budget aspect adds a little to what would otherwise be a batch of rather bad movies. I don’t typically get caught up in this kind of horror and had I not enjoyed Wrong Turn 2 I probably never would have even given any of the others a shot, but as it is I’m mildly curious as I have found one franchise inside the direct-to-video horror realm I’m willing to continually give a shot.
This fifth film was written and directed by Wrong Turn 4 helmer Declan O’Brien. You can check out the bloody clip below along with the red band trailer and if you like, preorder the DVD [amazon asin=”B008G4T7W4″ text=”here”] or the Blu-ray [amazon asin=”B008G4T5VM” text=”here”].
And here is the red band trailer…
