Roadside Attractions has released a new City of Dreams trailer, highlighting the upcoming drama about a young Mexican boy trying to escape a life of exploitation.
What happens in the City of Dreams trailer?
The trailer follows the story of Jesús, a young Mexican boy who is sold into a sweatshop and must find his way out in order to gain freedom. City of Dreams is written and directed by Mohit Ramchandani and stars Jason Patric, Alfredo Castro, Ari Lopez, Samm Levine, Paulina Gaitan, Francisco Denis, and Diego Calva.
The upcoming film is set to premiere in theaters on August 30, 2024.

“Inspired by true events, City of Dreams follows Jesús, a young Mexican boy whose dreams of becoming a soccer star are shattered when he’s trafficked across the border and sold to a sweatshop making fast fashion in downtown Los Angeles,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Thrust into a world of exploitation and despair; he’s forced to adhere to the grueling work schedule dictated by El Jefe, a boss who promises freedom for those who complete their quotas. Despite Jesus’s hellish existence, he finds solace in Elena, a girl who was similarly betrayed and sold into slavery. When she goes missing and another co-worker Carlito’s is severely beaten, Jesus realizes that his only hope for freedom is to make a daring escape.”
City of Dreams is produced by Jon Graham, Rufus Parker, Matthew Diezel, and Sean Wolfington. Tony Robbins, Luis Fonsi, Yalitza Aparicio, Michael Phillips Thomas Jane, Linda Perry, Luis Mandoki, Ohn Devaney, Ana Wolfington, Shehzaan Chunara, Brad J. Lamb, and Rohan Ramchandani are also attached as executive producers on the project.
