Rovio Entertainment has announced that production on The Angry Birds Movie 3 has officially begun after over four years since the theatrical release of the second installment. The 2016 sequel failed to surpass its predecessor by only earning less than a half of its box office gross, with $152.8 million.
Who’s involved in The Angry Birds Movie 3?
The Angry Birds Movie 3 announcement also came with the released of its first teaser trailer, teasing the return of Jason Sudeikis‘ Red. Besides the Ted Lasso actor, Frozen alum Josh Gad will also be reprising his role as Chuck in the third installment. The project currently has no release date attached to it yet.

The film will be directed by John Rice from a screenplay written by Thurop Van Orman. The latter is also executive producing alongside Toru Nakahara. It will be produced by John Cohen, Dan Chuba, Carla Connor, and Namit Malhotra. The film is a production by Rovio, SEGA, and Prime Focus Studios, with DNEG Animation handling its storyboards, art development, and animation. Meanwhile, the threequel’s design team welcomes back production designer Jeanie Chang and character designer Francesca Natale. Joining them are Vadim Bazhanov as the head of story and Sarah K. Reimers as lead editor.
