What is Ishana Night Shyamalan’s The Watchers about?
“The film follows Mina, a 28-year-old artist, who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night. You can’t see them, but they see everything.”
The Watchers is written and directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan, who is the daughter of M. Night Shyamalan. M. Night Shyamalan produces the movie alongside Ashwin Rajan and Nimitt Mankad, while Jo Homewood and Stephen Dembitzer serve as executive producers.
Along with Fanning, the movie stars Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan, and Olwen Fouere.
Prior to The Watchers, Ishana Night Shyamalan worked with her father on the Apple TV+’s Servant series, as she wrote and directed a number of episodes for the show. She additionally has directed her sister, Saleka, in a handful of music videos.
Deadline first reported that Ishana Night Shyamalan was directing The Watchers in February 2023. “We couldn’t be more excited to make Ishana’s first film with The Watchers,” New Line Cinema’s Richard Brener said at the time. “Equal parts visual, immersive, and terrifying, the script grips you from the first page and never lets go.”
The Watchers releases in United States theaters on June 7 from New Line Cinema and Warner Bros Pictures.
