Sony Pictures Classics has dropped the full Freud’s Last Session trailer for its upcoming drama, featuring Anthony Hopkins’ Sigmund Freud and Matthew Goode’s C.S. Lewis. The video shows these two men debating over religion, particularly about the existence of God.
The film had its world premiere at the 2023 AFI Fest. It will arrive in select theaters in New York and Los Angeles on December, followed by its wide release.

Who’s in Freud’s Last Session?
Freud’s Last Session is directed by from a screenplay written by Mark St. Germain, based on Armand Nicholi’s book The Question of God. Joining Hopkins and Goode are Live Lisa Fries, Jodi Balfour, Orla Brady, Stephen Campbell Moore, Rhys Mannion, David Shields, Pádraic Delaney, Tarek Bishara and more. The film is produced by Alan Greisman, Rick Nicita, and Meg Thomson.
“On the eve of the Second World War, two of the greatest minds on the twentieth century, C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud converge for their own personal battle over the existence of God,” reads the synopsis. “The film interweaves the lives of Freud and Lewis, past, present, and through fantasy, bursting from the confines of Freud’s study on a dynamic journey.”
