What to Expect in Rotting in the Sun?
“The film skewers the business of filmmaking and our self-obsessed culture,” reads the synopsis. “While unwinding at a Mexican gay beach town, depressed director Sebastián Silva meets gregarious Instagram influencer Jordan Firstman (both playing versions of themselves), and Sebastián reluctantly agrees to collaborate on an upcoming project. But when Jordan arrives back in Mexico City, Sebastián is nowhere to be found, and Jordan embarks on a wildly unpredictable, quasi-detective journey.”
Described as a darkly funny and refreshingly audacious meta-comedy, Rotting in the Sun is written and directed by Silva. The Chilean filmmaker gained recognition for his acclaimed directorial works in The Maid and Crystal Fairy & The Magical Cactus. Aside from Silva and Firstman, the upcoming film also stars Robert Keller, Catalina Saavedra, Gerard Sierra, Vitter Leija and Juan Andrés Silva.
The film is executive produced by Adam Donald, Ant Gentile, Adrián Geyer, Alex Hughes, Eugene Kotlyarenko, Riccardo Maddalosso, Patricia Sanchez, and Gabriel Stavenhagen, with Jacob Wasserman serving as producer.
