Amazon Studios has released the All the Old Knives trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of Olen Steinhauer’s espionage novel of the same name. Starring Chris Pine and Thandiwe Newton, the long-in-development film will finally make its debut on April 8 in select theaters and on Prime Video.
The video, which you can check out below along with the poster, features two reunited ex-lovers and former colleagues as they recall the past events leading up to their breakup in order to find out who’s the double agent that betrayed their agency years ago.

All the Old Knives is directed by Danish filmmaker Janus Metz from a screenplay adapted by Steinhauer. It stars Chris Pine (Wonder Woman 1984), Thandiwe Newton (Westworld), Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix films), and Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes).”When the CIA discovers one of its agents leaked information that cost more than 100 people their lives, veteran operative Henry Pelham is assigned to root out the mole from among his former officemates at the agency’s Vienna station,” reads the synopsis. “His investigation takes him from Austria to England to California, where he is reunited with his one-time colleague and ex-lover Celia Harrison. The pair are forced to blur the lines between profession and passion in this riveting tale of global espionage, moral ambiguity, and deadly betrayal.”

Pine will next be seen in a number of films such as the action thriller The Contractor; Olivia Wilde’s psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling; Paramount Pictures’ live-action fantasy adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons; and his upcoming directorial debut titled Poolman starring opposite Annette Bening and Danny DeVito.
As for Newton, she will once again reprise her acclaimed role as Maeve in the forthcoming fourth season of HBO’s sci-fi drama Westworld. She will also next be seen in the HBO Max original film Magic Mike’s Last Dance, the third installment to the Channing Tatum-led blockbuster franchise.
