Jason Momoa Takes on Big Pharma in Netflix’s Sweet Girl Trailer

Netflix has released the official Sweet Girl trailer for their forthcoming revenge thriller movie, starring Aquaman‘s Jason Momoa and Isabela Merced. The film is scheduled to make its debut on Friday, August 20.

The video, which you can check out below along with the new key art, features a devastated husband as he vows to bring down the greedy people of a pharmaceutical company who were the ones responsible for his wife’s death. In his search for justice, he is joined by his only daughter whose life is in jeopardy when big pharma goons try to stop them from their quest for the truth.

In Sweet Girl, devoted family man Ray Cooper, vows justice against the pharmaceutical company responsible for pulling a potentially life-saving drug from the market just before his wife dies from cancer. When his search for the truth leads to a deadly encounter that puts Ray and his daughter Rachel (Isabela Merced) in harm’s way, Ray’s mission turns into a quest for vengeance in order to protect the only family he has left.

Joining Momoa are Isabela Merced (Transformers: The Last Knight), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (6 Underground), Amy Brenneman, Adria Arjona (6 Underground), Raza Jaffrey (Homeland), Justin Bartha (National Treasure), Lex Scott Davis (The First Purge), and Michael Raymond-James (True Blood).

Sweet Girl is directed by Brian Andrew Mendoza in his feature directorial debut from a script written by Gregg Hurwitz and Philip Eisner, with current revisions by Will Staples. Mendoza and Momoa previously worked together on 2018’s Braven and Netflix’s Frontier series. Producers are Momoa, Brad Peyton, and Jeff Fierson of ASAP Entertainment, with Martin Kistler serving as an executive producer.
