The legendary, beloved anvil-armed sailor of the seven seas comes magically to life in the delightful musical, starring Oscar winner Robin Williams (Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society) as Popeye and Emmy nominee Shelley Duvall (The Shining, Three Women) as Popeye’s devoted long-limbed sweetie, Olive Oyl, one of many loveable characters who join the “sailor man” in his adventures in the harbor town of Sweethaven.
The movie was written by Jules Feiffer based on characters created by E.C. Segar.

Popeye was released on December 6, 1980, from Paramount Pictures and earned $49.8 million at the worldwide box office.
