Filmmaker Wes Anderson spent 2012 receiving acclaim for one of his most successful movies in nearly ten years with Moonrise Kingdom. He’s decided not to rest on his laurels and plans to take advantage of all the attention as he immediately jumps into his next movie, The Grand Budapest Hotel.
As has always been the case with Anderson, he doesn’t say much about his projects, but over the past few months a few names have leaked and in a career spotlight interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Anderson finally confirmed the cast he’s assembled for his next movie, including a few of the previous names mentioned and a couple new ones as well.
Fans of Anderson’s work will notice that there are a lot of returning actors who have appeared in previous movies, including Jeff Goldblum and Willem Dafoe from The Life Aquatic, Tilda Swinton and Edward Norton from Moonrise Kingdom and even Owen Wilson, whose career began with Anderson’s first movie Bottle Rocket, which Wilson co-wrote.
He also released the barest minimum of details–that it’s a “Euro movie” and a “period picture”–as you can read what he told them below:
“Yes, its Grand Budapest Hotel. Its a Euro movie. Its a period picture. I can tell you the cast — maybe you already know the cast, but I can tell you properly who it is: We have Ralph Fiennes, and we have Tilda Swinton and Jeff Goldblum, Willem Dafoe, we have F. Murray Abraham and Jude Law, and weve got Adrien Brody, Edward Norton, Harvey Keitel, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, and Mathieu Amalric. And I think Owen is gonna have a little part, too. Oh, Saoirse Ronan has quite a big part. Im thinking if Ive forgotten anybody. Yeah, we have a good group.”
