The first issue of Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson’s latest four-issue miniseries, Happy!, just hit comic shops two weeks ago and, today, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that a feature film adaptation is underway with RZA planing to direct.
“Meet Nick Sax,” reads the official description of the book, “a corrupt, intoxicated ex-cop turned hit-man, adrift in a stinking twilight world of casual murder, soulless sex, eczema and betrayal. With a hit gone wrong, a bullet in his side, the cops and the mob on his tail, and a monstrous child killer in a Santa suit on the loose, Nick and his world will be changed forever this Christmas. By a tiny blue horse called Happy.”
RZA, who makes his directorial debut with next month’s The Man with the Iron Fists, will direct the film version with Morrison providing the screenplay. Reginald Hudlin, known for his work in both the comic book and film industries, will produce.
