Kathy Bates, Kim Dickens join Highwaymen alongside Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson
Netflix‘s new project Highwaymen, starring Kevin Costner (Hidden Figures) and Woody Harrelson (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), has rounded out its remaining cast with Kathy Bates (Feud), Kim Dickens (Fear the Walking Dead), John Carroll Lynch (American Horror Story), Thomas Mann (Kong: Skull Island), and William Sadler (Power) joining the crime drama.
The story is based on the true events of Texas Ranger Frank Hamer (Costner) and ex-partner Maney Gault (Harrelson), who are drawn out of retirement in a last-ditch effort to hunt down Bonnie and Clyde in 1934. The former lawmen were out of the Texas Rangers by the time Bonnie and Clyde began their reign but were commissioned as special investigators to put an end to the crime spree. The couple was believed to have committed 13 murders as well as several robberies and burglaries. The movie will follow the vantage point of Hamer, Gault, and the posse they assembled specifically to hunt down Bonnie and Clyde.
The film is being directed by John Lee Hancock (The Founder) and was penned by John Fusco (Marco Polo). Casey Silver is producing through his Casey Silver Productions. Costner, Harrelson, Michael Malone, and Rod Lake are exec producers.
Production is currently underway in Louisiana, and the movie is set to release sometime in 2018.
