Radiant Films International announced today an impressive cast that’s been assembled for actor and artist Andrew Levitas’ directorial debut, the dramatic comedy Lullaby, headlined by Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy) and Oscar nominee Richard Jenkins (The Visitor, joined by Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls), “Downton Abbey” star Jessica Brown Findlay and Oscar nominees Amy Adams and Terrence Howard with plans to start filming this June in New York City.
Based on Levitas’ own original screenplay, the film explores the “power of life, its transformative moments and reconnections between loved ones” with the official plot summary being, “Estranged from his family, Jonathan (Hedlund) receives word that his father, Robert (Jenkins), who has been fighting illness for over a decade has chosen to take himself off life support in less than forty-eight hours. What follows is an unexpected journey of love, laughter, and forgiveness.”
Produced by Andrea Stone-Brokaw of Ananta Productions and Cary Brokaw of Avenue Pictures, Radiant Films International has come on board to sell the film to international buyers at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival market and several domestic distributors in talks for the project.
Hedlund is currently at Cannes with Walter Sales’ On the Road co-starring Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst and Viggo Mortensen with the Coen Brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis with Carey Mulligan and Justin Timberlake also thought to come out later this year.
Jenkins will also be at Cannes with Andrew Dominik’s Killing Them Softly, co-starring Brad PItt and Ray Liotta, following recent appearances in Drew Goddard’s The Cabin in the Woods and Lawrence Kasdan’s Darling Companion. He will also appear in the Sundance fave Liberal Arts, Robert Redford’s The Company You Keep and opposite Tom Cruise in One Shot this year.
Radiant Films’ President and CEO Mimi Steinbauer said, “Andrea and Cary have assembled a truly stellar cast for this life affirming tale of family and love. And in Andrew Levitas visionary hands Lullaby will unquestionably be an exciting film with producers Stone-Brokaw and Brokaw adding, Andrew Levitas has written a remarkable script and created a story that is as funny as it is moving and a part of life that everyone can identify with.
