Angelina Jolie Eyes Small Part in The Counselor

Announced earlier this year, Ridley Scott’s next project is The Counselor, from an original screenplay by Cormac McCarthy. Michael Fassbender is attached to star and may be acting opposite Angelina Jolie who, Vulture reports, is eyeing a small role.

McCarthy, known for the novels-turned-films “All the Pretty Horses,” “No Country for Old Men” and “The Road,” wrote The Counselor specifically for the screen. It tells of a present-day Southwest lawyer who gets in over his head in the drug trade.

Though she hasn’t worked with Scott in the past, Jolie is said to be interested in headlining an upcoming biopic of Gertrude Bell that Scott is attached to direct. In the meantime, she’s soon slated to begin production on Walt Disney Pictures’ Maleficent, which just yesterday was given a release date of March 14, 2014.
