Seth Grahame-Smith and Tim Burton look as though they’re prepared to keep working together for the foreseeable future as the writer today tells The Hollywood Reporter that he’s got another script in the works with Burton planning to direct. This one’s called Night of the Living and will be another stop-motion animation effort.
“Night of the Living is an idea I have had around for years that I’m doing with Tim Burton,” he tells the outlet. “When we were shooting ‘Dark Shadows’ last year I worked up the nerve to tell Tim about it because I always thought it would make a good movie. When I saw what he had done with ‘Frankenweenie’ and ‘Corpse Bride’, it always struck me as a great idea for that form. I’m writing it at Warner’s Bros. for him (as a stop-motion monster movie).”
After he turns in the script for that project, Grahame-Smith will adapt his new novel, Unholy Night (hitting stores tomorrow) into a feature. No director is currently attached.
Grahame-Smith is both the original author and screenwriter of the upcoming Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (produced by Burton) and drafted the Burton-directed Dark Shadows. He’s also attached to write the upcoming sequel to Burton’s original comedy, Beetlejuice.
