Paramount Pictures Instant Family casts Mark Wahlberg in lead role
Mark Wahlberg (Boogie Nights, Transformers: The Last Knight) has been cast in the lead role in the upcoming Paramount Pictures comedy Instant Family, according to Variety. The film will be directed by Sean Anders (Daddy’s Home). Anders and Brian Burns, who wrote Daddy’s Home, have written the script for Instant Family. The duo will also produce with Wahlberg and Steve Levinson. Paramount is looking at a 2018 start date for production.
Instant Family is the story of a couple who want to have children and “adopt through the foster-care system, only to find themselves raising three wild kids who have no interest in being parented.”
Wahlberg starred in Anders’ Daddy’s Home and the sequel Daddy’s Home 2 will hit theaters this Christmas. The sequel will star Wahlberg and Will Ferrell, who is reprising his role. They’ll be joined by Mel Gibson and John Lithgow, who will play the fathers of Wahlberg and Ferrell, respectively.
Wahlberg is known for his work in films like Boogie Nights, Three Kings, The Perfect Storm, Planet of the Apes, The Italian Job and The Other Guys with Will Ferrell. Wahlberg was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the Martin Scorsese-directed film The Departed. Wahlberg is the co-owner of the restaurant chain Wahlburgers and stars as part of a reality show about it. He got his start as part of the boy band Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.
