Chris Hemsworth and Jeff Bridges in talks for Drew Goddard’s Bad Times at the El Royale
Chris Hemsworth (The Avengers, Ghostbusters) and Jeff Bridges (The Big Lebowski, True Grit) are in talks to play the lead roles in Bad Times at the El Royale for Twentieth Century Fox, according to THR. The script was written by Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods, The Martian), who will also direct and produce. Bad Times at the El Royale is looking at beginning production in January 2018.
There are few details on the characters, but the story is reportedly set in the 1960s at a run-down hotel near Lake Tahoe called the El Royale. It “centers on a cast of characters whose own shady agendas will violently collide.”
Hemsworth is known for playing the role of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s also been seen in films like A Perfect Getaway, The Cabin in the Woods, Star Trek, Rush, Black Hat, Red Dawn and Snow White and the Huntsman. He recently played the role of Kevin Beckman in Ghostbusters. Hemsworth will be seen next in Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok. In 2018, we’ll see him as Captain Mitch Nelson in Horse Soldiers and as Thor in Avengers: Infinity War.
Bridges was nominated for an Academy Award for his work in The Last Picture Show, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, Starman, The Contender, True Grit, and Hell or High Water. He won the Best Actor Oscar for his work in Crazy Heart in 2009. Bridges will next be seen in Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
