Powers Boothe Dies at Age 68

Character actor Powers Boothe has passed away at the age of 68, according to Variety. Boothe reportedly died in his sleep on Sunday morning of natural causes. Actor Beau Bridges tweeted the news on Sunday:

Powers Boothe had quite the presence in comic book movies and TV shows in recent years. He played Senator Roark in both Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City (2005) and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014). In 2012, Boothe appeared in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, a role he would late reprise in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for 11 episodes in the show’s third season. He’s also voiced Gorilla Grodd in the animated Justice League and Justice League Unlimited.

In 1980, Boothe took home the Emmy for lead actor in a limited series or special for playing Jim Jones in Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones.

Powers Boothe’s credits also include playing Cy Tolliver on HBO’s Deadwood, Vice President Noah Daniels on 24, Judge Valentine “Wall” Hatfield in Hatfields & McCoys, and former mayor Lamar Wyatt on Nashville.
