Newcomer Michael Chaves will helm a mystery horror tale from Platinum Dunes
There’s a new supernatural tale of terror on the way from Michael Bay‘s Platinum Dunes and Paramount Pictures, but, unfortunately, specifics are being kept under wraps. Variety has the news, reporting that Saw IV‘s Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton are set to write the feature, which has Michael Chaves attached to helm. A Hollywood newcomer, Michael Chaves recently directed the acclaimed short film, The Maiden, which you can watch for yourself in the player at the bottom of this page.

Officially described as being “the dark tale of a real estate agent who will stop at nothing to close the sale on a demonic mansion,” the Michael Chaves short stars Alia Raelynn, Penny Orloff, Brian Knudson, Sunnie Pelant and Betsy Sligh. Although little is known about the new film’s plot, the action is said to play out on a global scale.
Platinum Dunes has released three films this year, all of them sequels. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows served as a followup to the 2014 film, while The Purge: Election Year offered a third chapter in the satirical horror franchise. Rounding out the list is Ouija: Origin of Evil, which debuted in theaters last week to rave reviews.
