According to Bloody Disgusting, Michael Chaves is returning to The Conjuring Universe. Chaves has officially signed on to direct Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema’s long-in-development The Nun sequel. Chaves first collaborated with James Wan and The Conjuring team with 2019’s standalone spin-off The Curse of La Llorona, and also worked on last year’s The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.

Chaves will be directing the untitled The Nun follow-up from a screenplay written by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, based on Akela Cooper’s latest draft. Further details about the untitled horror sequel’s plot and characters are still under wraps. Production is expected to begin later this year.
The film is produced by James Wan and Peter Safran, with Gary Dauberman and Michael Clear serving as executive producers.

The Nun starred Demian Bichir, Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet, and Bonnie Aarons. The film was a box office hit with a worldwide gross of over $360 million, making it the highest-grossing film of the franchise.
