Production company GK Films have announced that their affiliated distribution company FilmDistrict, currently the most active buyer of films at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, will release Angelina Jolie’s previously untitled directorial debut, the Bosnian war love story In the Land of Blood and Honey in the United States on December 23.
Angelina Jolie, who also penned the script, said about the film:
“The film is specific to the Bosnian War, but it’s also universal.I wanted to tell a story of how human relationships and behavior are deeply affected by living inside a war.”
Shot last year in Bosnia both in English and BHS, the former Serbo-Croatian language, the film stars local actors Zana Marjanovic, Goran Kostic and Rade Serbedzija.
“The former Yugoslavia has a rich history of dramatic arts. The cast was extraordinary. I was privileged and honored to work with them and I am very excited for everyone to see their immense talent,” Jolie added.
