Paula Malcomson is the latest bit of casting news for the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games. The Hollywood Reporter has word that the actress will play the part of Mrs. Everdeen.
Targeted for a PG-13 rating, the film is based on the young adult novel and tells the tale of a dystopic future and the annual “Hunger Games,” a fight to the death on live television.
Malcomson, who has appeared on television shows like “Fringe,” “Caprica” and “Sons of Anarchy,” joins Jennifer Lawrence and Willow Shields in the roles of Katniss and Prim Everdeen, respectively. Josh Hutcherson will play Peeta Mellark with Liam Hemsworth in the role of Gale Hawthorne. Dayo Okeniyi, Amandla Stenberg, Jack Quaid and Leven Rambin also star with Elizabeth Banks likely to sign on as well.
The Hunger Games is set for release on March 23, 2012.
