Exclusive Films Chairman Guy East and President Alex Walton announced today that they have acquired all international sales rights to Arie Posin’s The Look of Love, which will star Academy Award nominee Ed Harris and Academy Award winner Diane Keaton. The film, with a screenplay by Posin (who directed and co-wrote The Chumscrubber) and Matthew McDuffie (A Cool Dry Place), will be produced by Julie Lynn and Bonnie Curtis.
The Look of Love is the story of a widow named Nikki (Keaton) who, several years after the loss of her husband, mysteriously meets a man (Harris) that looks exactly like her deceased husband and suddenly finds a flood of old feelings coming back. The film is a love story filled with humor, surprise, and a mood that reflects the mystery of love that surrounds us.
“This movie is about the hope that love can strike at any age, and that it’s possible to love deeply, lose terribly, and still love again. This project will rely heavily on the humanity and honesty of its actors, and I cannot imagine two finer actors in the world than Diane and Ed to entrust with the telling of this story,” says Posin.
“Arie Posin has the intellect and sensitivity to deliver tremendous romance and complexity with ‘The Look of Love.’ Before making his first film, Arie spent years under the mentorship of the incomparable Billy Wilder — and that influence is apparent in every scene of this new project. We have a fierce belief in Arie, and we’re thrilled that Exclusive Films International sees exactly what we see,” said jointly Curtis and Lynn.
“We were immediately attracted to the highly emotional screenplay Arie has written. Combined with the award-winning cast he has assembled ‘The Look of Love’ will surely affect cinema audiences worldwide,” says Alex Walton, EFI’s President of International Sales and Distribution, and Alex Brunner, EFI’s Co-President. “We are thrilled to be able to present this movie at Berlin, and I am sure the screenplay and all the wonderful talent surrounding it will excite our distributors.”
In addition to The Look of Love, EFI will also be in Berlin meeting with distributors on other titles including James Watkins’ The Woman in Black, starring Daniel Radcliffe (“Harry Potter” films) with a screenplay by Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass), based on the best-selling novel by Susan Hill; George Clooney’s The Ides of March, based on the award-winning play by Beau Willimon, and starring Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei, and Evan Rachel Wood; the action comedy So Undercover by Tom Vaughan (What Happens in Vegas) and starring Miley Cyrus in the lead role, as well as Kelly Osbourne, Jeremy Piven and Mike O’Malley; and Martin Scorsese’s Untitled George Harrison Documentary which will showcase the late Beatle George Harrison with feature never-before-seen footage and personal recordings.
