Tom Hanks may be planning a leading role in Sleeping Dogs (formerly titled “Triple Frontier”), according to a post at Deadline.
The film, the follow-up from The Hurt Locker director and writer Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal, is an ensemble picture set in the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil where the Igazu and Parana rivers converge — making “la triple frontera” difficult to monitor and a haven for organized crime.
August’s alleged Paramount leak listed a number of names said to be contending for the five lead parts, though Hanks was not included in the grouping. The rumor at the time listed Christian Bale, Javier Bardem, Sean Penn and Will Smith.
