Clint Eastwood’s Hereafter to Close New York Film Festival

Today, The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced that the Closing Night film for the 48th New York Film Festival will be Clint Eastwood’s supernatural drama Hereafter starring Matt Damon, Bryce Dallas Howard and Cecile de France. It plays at the festival on Sunday, October 10, ten days before its theatrical release on October 20.

Written by Peter Morgan (The Queen), it tells the story of three people who have been touched by death in different ways. Hereafter joins Eastwood’s previous films that premiered at the New York Film Festival: The Changeling (2009 Centrepiece), Mystic River (2003 Opening Night film) and Bird (1988).

Furthermore, the Film Society announced the full slate for the 48th Annual Film Festival, which highlights a diverse batch of foreign films and documentaries, including new films from Mike Leigh, Olivier Assayas, Charles Ferguson (No End in Sight), Cristi Puiu (The Death of Mr. Lazarescu), Kelly Reichardt (Wendy and Lucy) and Sebastian Silva (The Maid).

You can see the full slate for the festival below. Tickets go on sale to the public on September 12, and you can read more about the festival at the Film Society blog.
