The Los Angeles Times reports that Ben Stiller is in talks to star in Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment’s Trump Heist (it may change its name to “Tower Heist”), which “is about a group of con-men who devise a plan to swindle the residents of New York’s upscale Trump Tower, where they also work.”
The newspaper says that Eddie Murphy was previously attached to play the lead role, with Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle and Chris Tucker co-starring. A new draft of the script will be written now that Stiller is taking over the role and the project is heading into a new direction.
Brett Ratner has been attached to direct “Heist.” Russell Gewirtz (Inside Man), Rawson Marshall Thurber and Ted Griffin (Ocean’s Eleven, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story) have all worked on the script.
Stiller can next be seen in Greenberg, followed later this year by Little Fockers.
