A sequel to Rawson Marshall Thurber’s 2004 comedy Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story is in the works at 20th Century Fox, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter. The studio has hired Clay Tarver, best known for co-writing Joy Ride alongside J.J. Abrams, to provide the screenplay.
The original film starred Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn as rival gym owners who agree to compete in a winner-takes-all dodgeball championship. The sequel is said to follow a series of circumstances that will force Stiller’s White Goodman and Vaughn’s Peter La Fleur to join forces.
Vaughn will be back on the big screen this summer in Shawn Levy’s The Internship while Stiller both stars in and directs The Secret Life Walter Mitty, opening in December.
Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld are attached to produce the Dodgeball sequel through Stiller’s Red Hour Productions.
