Irish actor Michael Fassbender has been a super busy guy in the past year, culminating with his role in Quentin Tarantino’s hit WWII flick Inglourious Basterds, in which he played British undercover agent Lt. Archie Hicox.
Next week, he can be seen in Andrea Arnold’s acclaimed indie drama Fish Tank, opening on Friday in select cities, and when ComingSoon.net sat down with him to talk about the movie, we learned what his schedule will be like over the next few months.
Although Fassbender’s name has come up for a lot of different movie roles in recent months, one that hadn’t been reported was his appearance in Steven Soderbergh’s next movie, the previously announced spy thriller Knockout starring mixed martial arts fighter Gina Carano, which will start shooting at the beginning of February.
“I play this MI6 operative that meets up with the lead character, so it should be very interesting,” he told us earlier. “I’m very excited to work with him. He’s a legend.”
After that, Fassbender will play Rochester in Cary (Sin Nombre) Fukunaga’s take on Charlotte Brönte’s Jane Eyre, followed by him taking on the guise of psychiatrist Carl Jung in David Cronenberg’s adaptation of Christopher Hampton’s 2002 stageplay The Talking Cure, in which he’ll finally be able to act with his Basterds co-star Christoph Waltz, since they never had any scenes together.
