Gwyneth Paltrow, country singer and actor Tim McGraw, Garrett Hedlund and Leighton Meester are set to star in Screen Gems’ Love Don’t Let Me Down. The project will be directed and written by Shana Feste. Jenno Topping and Tobey Maguire will produce via their Maguire Entertainment banner. Production is set to begin in January 2010 in Nashville, TN.
In Love Don’t Let Me Down, Hedlund plays a rising young singer/songwriter who becomes involved with a fallen country singer played by Paltrow. As they embark on a career resurrection tour with her husband/manager (Tim McGraw) and a beauty queen turned singer (Leighton Meester), romantic entanglements and old demons threaten to derail them all.
Paltrow most recently played Pepper Potts in the 2008 blockbuster Iron Man and will reprise her role in the upcoming sequel, Iron Man 2. Paltrow garnered the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her role in Shakespeare in Love.
McGraw previously had roles in Four Christmases, The Kingdom, Flicka and Friday Night Lights. He can currently be seen in theaters in The Blind Side.
Hedlund will next be seen in The Walt Disney Company’s highly-anticipated film Tron Legacy. His credits also include Death Sentence, Four Brothers, Friday Night Lights and Troy.
Meester is best known for her role as Blair Waldorf in the popular teen TV drama “Gossip Girl.” She will next be seen in Screen Gems’ upcoming thriller The Roommate, and Fox’s Date Night, opposite Steve Carell and Tina Fey.
Feste wrote and directed the 2009 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury nominee The Greatest.
Screen Gems’ Senior Vice President of Production, Nick Phillips will oversee the project for the studio.
