The Producers Guild of America (PGA) have announced their film and television nominations for the 26th Annual Producers Guild Awards, with winners set to be announced on January 24 and they couldn’t have come at a better time… for me at least.
I have been spending the last couple of days working on my 2015 Oscar predictions, finally adding predictions for the categories I had not yet set live and putting final touches on those I’ve had live since March of last year. The Oscar nomination ballots close this coming Thursday, January 8 and you better believe I’m looking at this list to get a better idea of what the industry is thinking.
Overall, there aren’t any real surprises, though one film continues to make a strong big for a nomination, that being Dan Gilroy‘s Nightcrawler, which has continued to perform well in the precursor nominations. We also see a nomination for Foxcatcher and no nomination for Angelina Jolie‘s Unbroken, which continues to put that film’s chances at a nomination in question all while it performs quite well at the box office.
Over the weekend I added Clint Eastwood‘s American Sniper to my list of Best Picture nominees as it continues to turn in amazing numbers in limited release and has done reasonably well with critics. As for the Selma absence, Paramount has really dropped the ball and I dropped it on my charts this weekend… it will get a Best Picture nomination, but no win.
I will be writing up more about my current Oscar predictions later today, but you can see the lists as I work on them right here. Otherwise, the PGA nominations in film and television are all listed below.
