Paramount Pictures today announced the new release schedule for its fall films.
The studio will release Oren Peli’s low-budget supernatural thriller Paranormal Activity on September 25th in limited theaters. In the film, a young, middle class couple moves into what seems like a typical suburban “starter” tract house. They become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be somehow demonic but is certainly most active in the middle of the night. Especially when they sleep. Or try to.
On November 13th, the studio will release Jason Reitman’s Up in the Air in limited theaters. It will expand into more theaters on November 25th. The movie stars George Clooney as Ryan Bingham, a corporate hatchet man who loves his life on the road but is forced to fight for his job when his company downsizes its travel budget. He is required to spend more time at home just as he is on the cusp of a goal he’s worked toward for years: reaching five million frequent flyer miles and just after he’s met the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams.
And the last pic for Paramount of the year will be Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones, which the studio will release in limited theaters on December 11th. It then expands into more theaters on Christmas Day before going wide on January 15th. Based on the critically acclaimed best-selling novel by Alice Sebold, the film centers on a young girl who has been murdered and watches over her family and her killer from heaven. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal.
