After David got out of watching WALL•E he sent me a text message, it simply said, “Masterpiece.” I agreed and he wrote back, “Does it top In Bruges for best of 2008 so far?” I thought about it for a second and at the time I said no. Well, I have had a chance to watch In Bruges for a third time now and I had to admit that WALL•E certainly tops it as the best film of the first six months of ’08.
WALL•E is a film filled with emotion, beauty and drama, and to think I am saying this about a film that stars what could best be described as a mute trash compactor and an iPod with a jetpack is astonishing. WALL•E won me over and I am sure the majority of you are tired of hearing me gush about it.
If you have not yet read my Top Ten Worst Films Midway Through 2008 you can read those here, and stay tuned as tomorrow I will bring you a complete recap of the year so far with a look forward at what we can expect in the coming six months.
