Warm Bodies and 50/50 director Jonathan Levine may team with Amy Schumer for her upcoming action comedy
Back in May, it was revealed that Trainwreck‘s Amy Schumer has plans to write and star in a new mother/daughter comedy from 20th Century Fox. Although the project is still without a title, Deadline reports today that the film may have found a helmer in 50/50 and Warm Bodies director Jonathan Levine. According to the outlet, Levine has been made an offer by the studio.
Initially scripted by The Heat‘s Katie Dippold, the new film is being rewritten by Schumer and her sister, Katie Caramele. Said to be similar in tone to 2013’s The Heat, the project is an action comedy in which a mother and daughter are forced together on an unexpected adventure after their vacation goes horribly wrong. The Heat‘s Paul Feig will be producing through his Feigco Entertainment alongside Chernin Entertainment’s Jessie Henderson. Dippold will executive produce with Daria Cercek overseeing for Fox.
Trainwreck has grossed more than $111 million worldwide since its release this past July while Schumer’s sketch comedy series, “Inside Amy Schumer,” is the recent recipient of a Peabody Award. Jonathan Levine, meanwhile, is ready to release his latest film, The Night Before, in theaters November 25. Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anthony Mackie, Lizzy Caplan, Jillian Bell, Michael Shannon and Mindy Kaling, The Night Before was also written by Jonathan Levine with Evan Goldberg, Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir.
