With her sketch show “Inside Amy Schumer” a hit on Comedy Central and her new film, Trainwreck, on the way this summer, comedic multi-hyphenate Amy Schumer is, according to a story at The Hollywood Reporter, making plans for the future, signing on to star in an untitled action comedy at 20th Century Fox. Initially scripted by The Heat‘s Katie Dippold, the new film will be rewritten by Schumer alongside her sister, Katie Caramele.
Said to be similar in tone to 2013’s The Heat, the new film will be an action comedy in which a mother and daughter are forced together on an unexpected adventure after their vacation goes horribly wrong. What’s more, The Heat‘s Paul Feig will be producing through his Feigco Entertainment alongside Chernin Entertainment’s Jessie Henderson. Dippold will executive produce with Daria Cercek overseeing for Fox.
Trainwreck, meanwhile, is on the way to theaters July 17. Directed by Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, This is 40), it also stars Bill Hader, Tilda Swinton, Brie Larson, John Cena, Colin Quinn, Ezra Miller, Barkhad Abdi, Mike Birbiglia, Vanessa Bayer and Jon Glaser’. ComingSoon.net caught an early look at a “work in progress” version of the film during this year’s SXSW and you can check out our very positive thoughts right here.
