Lea Michele and Kate Upton Board William H. Macy’s Road Trip Sex Comedy

Lea Michele and Kate Upton are set to headline William H. Macy’s second directorial feature, a road trip sex comedy titled The Layover, playing a pair of lifelong best friends who decide to avoid their problems by taking a vacation only to find that their plane has been rerouted due to a hurricane warning. To make matters worse, the two friends find themselves in a hilarious battle for the same guy during an extended layover in St. Louis.

The Layover is scripted by David Hornsby and Lance Krall, who have previously collaborated on “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” on which Hornsby serves as writer, executive producer, and co-star.

“We’re delighted to be working again with Bill Macy on his new feature, which will showcase his comedic talents,” said producers Keith Kjarval of Unified Pictures and Aaron L. Gilbert of Bron Studios.

“The minute I met Lea and Kate, the film began to focus for me,” adds Macy. “They are singular, ambitious funny women in full. This is going to be fun.”

Michele is best known for playing Rachel on the long running series “Glee” and has just started shooting Ryan Murphy’s new series, “Scream Queens.” Supermodel Upton, meanwhile, was recently seen on the big screen in 20th Century Fox’s comedy The Other Woman, starring opposite Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann.

Patricia Cox will serve as executive producer alongside Jason Cloth of Creative Wealth Media Finance. Cox previously did the same on Macy’s debut feature, Rudderless. As he did in Rudderless, Macy plans to play a part in The Layover as well.

Michele is repped by WME and Untitled Entertainment. Upton is repped by WME and LBI Entertainment. Macy is repped by WME and Barry Greenfield at Altman, Greenfield & Selvaggi LLP. WME Global will represent worldwide distribution rights on The Layover.
