Screen Gems has acquired the Charles Murray spec script Phenom, and quickly set singer-actor Chris Brown (upcoming This Christmas, Stomp the Yard) to star. Variety says that Bob Teitel and George Tillman Jr. will produce.
Brown will play a standout high school basketball player who goes pro as the press discovers he’s the illegitimate son of an aging NBA star. Father and son head for a collision course as their teams meet in the NBA playoffs.
The plan is to be in production later this year.
