”Bill Skarsgård takes on the iconic role of The Crow in this modern reimagining of the original graphic novel by James O’Barr. Soulmates Eric (Skarsgård) and Shelly (FKA twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them.” reads the official synopsis. ”Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.”

The Crow is directed by Rupert Sanders. Sanders is best known for the 2017 Ghost in the Shell live-action movie. It’s written by Zach Baylin and William Schneider (Creed III, Gran Turismo). Alongside Skarsgård and Twigs, The Crow stars Danny Huston (30 Days of Night), Laura Birn (A Walk Among the Tombstones), Jordan Bolger (The Woman King), Isabella Wei, Sami Bouajila (The Siege), Paul Maynard (Extraction 2), and Dukagjin Podrimaj.

The Crow has a few movie appearances to date. Most notable of all is 1994’s The Crow starring Brandon Lee. It’s something of a cult classic now, which makes any attempt to follow it an uphill struggle.

We’ll see how they compare when 2024’s The Crow lands in theaters on August 23, 2024.
