The Conjuring 4 and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride! have been given new release dates.
The fourth and final movie in the Warner Bros. series of The Conjuring films will be released on September 5, 2025, in IMAX and theaters.
Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride! has also shifted release dates. While it was previously scheduled to come out on October 3, 2025, it will now hit theaters and IMAX on September 26, 2024.
What do we know about The Bride! and The Conjuring 4?
The Bride! is written and directed by Gyllenhaal. Inspired by 1935’s Bride of Frankenstein (which was inspired by Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel), the movie stars Penélope Cruz, Christian Bale, Jessie Buckley, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Julianne Hough, John Magaro, Jeannie Berlin, and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Plot details for The Bride!, which is not to be confused with the Frankenstein movie that Guillermo del Toro is making with Oscar Isaac and Mia Goth, remain under wraps at this time.
The Conjuring 4, meanwhile, is being directed by Michael Chaves, who also helmed the third film in the franchise, 2021’s The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. Chaves has also directed a handful of other movies set within the larger Conjuring cinematic universe, including 2019’s The Curse of La Llorona and 2023’s The Nun II.
Plot details for The Conjuring 4 are also being kept under wraps at this time; although, according to a February 2024 article from The Hollywood Reporter, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are both expected to reprise their roles as Ed and Lorrain Warren.
David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who co-wrote The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It with James Wan (who directed the first two Conjuring movies), wrote the screenplay for The Conjuring 4. Wan is producing the horror movie sequel alongside Peter Safran.
