What is The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie about?
“From Warner Bros. Animation, director Pete Browngardt, and the creative team behind the award-winning Looney Tunes Cartoons, The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie stars Porky Pig and Daffy Duck as unlikely heroes and Earth’s only hope when facing the threat of alien invasion,” the synopsis reads. “The movie unfolds a rich Porky & Daffy story that fans have never seen before: In this buddy-comedy of epic proportions, our heroes race to save the world, delivering all the laugh-out-loud gags and vibrant visuals that have made the Looney Tunes so iconic, but on a scope and scale yet to be experienced.”
While there have been several theatrically released Looney Tunes films before (including 1996’s Space Jam, 2003’s Looney Tunes: Back in Action, and 2021’s Space Jam: A New Legacy) The Day the Earth Blew Up will be the first fully animated Looney Tunes feature film released in theaters. The voice cast also includes Candi Milo, Peter MacNicol, Fred Tatasciore, and Laraine Newman.
The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie will hold its world premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. It will then be released in United States theaters on October 25, 2024.
